WB46: A Water-Based Adhesive for EPDM and TPO Roofing

WB46 is a ready-to-use, one-component water-based adhesive for bonding all types of EPDM and TPO to absorbent horizontal substrates such as wood, concrete, masonry and other porous surfaces. With a 68% solids content and a tensile strength of 45 N/50mm² rising to 55 N/50mm² after ageing, this low-odour, user-friendly roll adhesive is quick to process — with an open time of around 3 to 5 minutes — and offers good resistance to heat, up to +110°C, and ageing once cured.

How does private label work for a water-based EPDM roll adhesive?

As the manufacturer of this water-based EPDM roll adhesive, we produce it under your own brand name. It works in a few clear steps: together we select the right product and you test samples in your own application. We then customise the bucket or jerrycan, the box and the label to your brand, with support from our in-house marketing team for the label design, and we take care of the technical and safety data sheets and the UFI codes. Finally, we produce, check every batch in our own laboratory and deliver on the agreed schedule.

It combines a solids content of 62–68% with high temperature and ageing resistance, from -40 °C to +110 °C.

On which substrates can WB46 be used?

WB46 is designed for bonding all types of EPDM and TPO to absorbent, horizontal substrates such as concrete, aerated concrete, fibre cement, masonry and wood. Drying depends on temperature, humidity and the absorbency of the substrate, so suitability for moisture-sensitive and non-porous materials should be checked beforehand. It is not suitable for PE, PP and PTFE.

How does the WB46 working time compare with solvent-based contact adhesives?

Unlike a contact adhesive, WB46 is stirred well, applied to one side only with a pile roller at approximately 350–400 g/m², and the EPDM is laid into the still-wet adhesive layer, preferably within 3 to 5 minutes. Limited corrections are possible for about 6 to 7 minutes, and this window can be shorter at higher temperatures. Process between +5 °C and +30 °C and protect the adhesive from water and frost while it dries.
